  • Spatula or tongs

Ingredients

For the Salmon & Sauce

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 oz each
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water for thickening

For Garnish & Serving

  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Cooked rice or steamed vegetables optional

Instructions

Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Slowly pour it into the sauce while whisking.
  • Let the sauce cook for 1–2 minutes until it thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook the Salmon

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of oil.
  • Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for about 3–4 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  • Flip the salmon carefully and cook for another 2–3 minutes, depending on the thickness.

Glaze the Salmon

  • Reduce the heat to low and pour the teriyaki sauce over the salmon.
  • Let it cook for 1–2 minutes, spooning the sauce over the fillets to coat them evenly.

Serve & Enjoy

  • Transfer the salmon to a plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Serve with rice, steamed veggies, or a side salad. Drizzle extra sauce over the top for more flavor!
