Equipment

  • Skillet or Grill Pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Tongs
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and Cutting Board
  • Small saucepan

Ingredients

For the Pork Chops:

  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops about 1-inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce low-sodium recommended
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water for thickening
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil optional for extra flavor

For Garnish (Optional):

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions sliced

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.

Step 2: Season the Pork Chops

  • Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 3: Sear the Pork Chops

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F/63°C). Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4: Make the Teriyaki Glaze

  • In the same skillet, pour in the teriyaki sauce mixture. Stir and let it simmer for about 2 minutes. Slowly add the cornstarch slurry while stirring to thicken the sauce.

Step 5: Coat the Pork Chops

  • Return the pork chops to the skillet and coat them in the sauce. Let them simmer for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to absorb.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, and serve hot with your favorite sides.
