Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples
This recipe is part of my favorite collection of crockpot apple recipes. It’s simple enough to whip up on a busy weekday yet impressive enough to serve when friends or family stop by.

- 6 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup water or apple juice
Step 1: Prep Your Apples
Peel, core, and slice 6 medium apples into even pieces—about 1/2-inch thick works well.
Pro tip: Try to slice them evenly so they cook at the same rate. Uneven slices can lead to some pieces being mushy while others stay firm.
Step 2: Combine the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, toss the apple slices with 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp nutmeg.
Add 1 tsp vanilla extract and mix gently until the apples are coated evenly.
Pro tip: Don’t overmix; you want each slice coated, but too much stirring can break them up.
Step 3: Add to the Crockpot
Transfer the coated apples into your slow cooker.
Dot the top with 2 tbsp of butter, distributing it evenly.
Pour 1/4 cup of water or apple juice around the edges—not directly on top of the butter.
Step 4: Cook Low and Slow
Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
Pro tip: Resist the urge to lift the lid during cooking; it lets heat escape and can extend cooking time.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Once done, gently stir the apples to mix in the melted butter and juices.
Serve warm on their own, over pancakes, oatmeal, or even alongside roasted meats.
