For the Peach Syrup
- 2 ripe peaches sliced
- ½ cup sugar adjust to taste
- 1 cup water
- For the Tea
- 4 cups water
- 3 black tea bags or green tea for a lighter flavor
- Ice cubes
Optional Add-ins
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Lemon slices for a tangy twist
- Extra peach slices for extra fruitiness
Step 1: Make the Peach Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, and 1 cup of water.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until the peaches are soft and the syrup thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the peaches gently to extract all the flavorful syrup. Discard the peach solids or save them for a smoothie!
Step 2: Brew the Tea
In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Let them steep for about 5 minutes (or longer if you prefer stronger tea).
Discard the tea bags and allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
Step 3: Assemble the Peach Iced Tea
In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea and the peach syrup. Stir well.
Add ice cubes to chill the tea quickly.
Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more sugar or honey.
Garnish with fresh peach slices, lemon slices, and mint leaves for extra flavor.
Serve over ice and enjoy your homemade peach iced tea!
