Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Measuring jigger or shot glass
  • Fine-Mesh Strainer
  • Martini glasses
  • Bar spoon
  • Small whisk or fork

Ingredients

For the Pumpkin Espresso Martini:

  • 2 oz vodka I love using a smooth vanilla vodka for extra warmth
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur like Kahlúa
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso cooled
  • 1 oz pumpkin puree
  • ½ oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice plus more for garnish
  • Ice cubes

For Garnish:

  • Whipped cream optional but highly recommended!
  • A light dusting of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Espresso

  • Brew 1 oz of strong espresso and let it cool slightly.
  • Pro tip: If you’re in a hurry, pop it in the freezer for 2–3 minutes to cool faster without diluting the flavor.

Step 2: Mix Pumpkin and Espresso

  • In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine the pumpkin puree and cooled espresso.
  • Whisk together until smooth and fully blended.
  • Pro tip: Whisk continuously to prevent lumps and get a creamy, even mixture.

Step 3: Add the Spirits

  • Pour 2 oz of vodka and 1 oz of coffee liqueur into your cocktail shaker.
  • Add the pumpkin-espresso mixture and ½ oz simple syrup.
  • Sprinkle in ¼ tsp pumpkin pie spice for that signature fall flavor.

Step 4: Shake It Up

  • Fill the shaker with ice until about halfway full.
  • Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 20–30 seconds.
  • Pro tip: Shake until the outside of the shaker feels very cold—that’s your cue that it’s perfectly chilled.

Step 5: Strain and Serve

  • Place a fine mesh strainer over your martini glass.
  • Pour the shaken cocktail through the strainer to catch any small pumpkin bits.
  • Pro tip: Double straining makes the martini extra smooth and silky.

Step 6: Garnish and Enjoy

  • Top with a small swirl of whipped cream if desired.
  • Lightly dust with pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for a festive finish.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy the seasonal flavors!
