Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Knife and Cutting Board
  • Garlic Press Optional

Ingredients

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice optional, for a hint of tang
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for a spicy feel

Instructions

Prepare the shrimp:

  • Start by patting the shrimp dry with a paper towel. This will help them cook faster and get a nice sear.
  • Season with a little salt and pepper.

Cook the shrimp:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  • Remove the shrimp from the pan and set them aside.

Make the garlic butter sauce:

  • In the same pan, add the butter.
  • Once it melts, throw in the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can turn bitter.

Combine:

  • Return the shrimp to the pan and toss them in the garlic butter sauce.
  • Add lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and parsley, and stir to coat the shrimp evenly.

Serve:

  • Serve the shrimp hot with your favorite side dish or enjoy it on its own.
  • Garnish with extra parsley and a squeeze of lemon if desired.
