Dill Pickle Pasta Salad
One of the best things about this salad is how easy it is to make. In just a few simple steps, you can have a delicious dish ready to serve. Plus, it's a great way to use up that jar of pickles sitting in your fridge! The combination of pasta and pickles might sound surprising, but trust me—it works like magic.

For the Salad
- 3 cups cooked pasta elbow, rotini, or shells work best
- 1 cup chopped dill pickles
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup diced red onion
- ¼ cup chopped fresh dill optional for extra flavor
For the Dressing
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup pickle juice from the jar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Cook the pasta – Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Once done, drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Let it cool completely.
Chop the ingredients – While the pasta cools, finely chop the dill pickles, red onion, and fresh dill (if using). Grate or shred the cheddar cheese.
Make the dressing – In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, pickle juice, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Assemble the salad – In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled pasta, chopped pickles, red onion, cheddar cheese, and fresh dill. Pour the dressing over the top and stir until everything is well coated.
Chill and serve – For the best flavor, cover and refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving. This helps the flavors meld together. Serve chilled and enjoy!
