1cupshredded cheddar cheeseoptional, for extra flavor
¼teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra taste)
For the Topping
1 ½cupscrispy fried onions
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your casserole bakes evenly.
Prepare the sauce – In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder (if using). Stir until smooth.
Add the green beans – Gently fold the cooked green beans into the sauce mixture, making sure they are evenly coated. If you’re adding cheese, mix it in now.
Transfer to a baking dish – Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Bake the casserole – Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the mixture is hot and bubbling.
Add the crispy onions – Sprinkle the fried onions on top, then bake for another 5-10 minutes until golden brown.
Let it cool slightly – Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to sit for a few minutes before serving.
